The John C. Campbell Folk School has launched its first-ever Substack, creating a new digital space to share stories, history and voices from its Brasstown campus as the school celebrates its centennial year.
School officials describe the Substack as a “front-porch conversation” delivered to subscribers’ inboxes, featuring reflections from instructors and alumni, behind-the-scenes moments from campus life, and stories highlighting 100 years of the Folk School’s “learning by doing” tradition.
The launch coincides with Valentine’s season, and the Folk School is encouraging supporters to subscribe and invite others to join the growing online community.

Founded in 1925, the John C. Campbell Folk School is known nationally for its craft, music, dance and nature-based programs. The new Substack is intended to extend that sense of community beyond campus, offering readers a closer look at the people and traditions that have shaped the school for a century.
