Large Fire Destroys Commercial Building at Andrews Valley Poultry Farm

Valleytown Fire and Rescue responded to a large commercial structure fire Friday night at the Andrews Valley Poultry Farm, resulting in an estimated $5 million in property damage.
According to a press release from Valleytown Fire and Rescue, crews were dispatched at 9:18 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, to a fire at 417 Taylors Creek Road, the location of Dutt and Wagner Inc. and the Andrews Valley Poultry Farm. Firefighters arrived to find one large commercial building fully involved.
Fire Chief Justin Hyde requested a countywide response through Cherokee County E-911 Communications for additional tanker trucks as fire departments from across the region worked to contain the blaze. Crews battled the fire for several hours, bringing it under control at approximately 3:16 a.m. Saturday.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation. Officials reported no injuries and no loss of life.
Valleytown Fire and Rescue thanked the numerous agencies that assisted in the response, including the Peachtree, Murphy, Martins Creek, Bellview, Ranger, Culberson, Wolf Creek, Hiwassee Dam, Unaka, Hanging Dog and Clay County fire departments, as well as Fannin County Fire and Rescue, the Cherokee County Fire Marshal’s Office, Cherokee County EMS, Cherokee County Emergency Management and Cherokee County E-911 Communications.
