Local Man Indicted and Arrested for Sexual Assault of a Minor

Cherokee County, NC – The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office announces that Jason Lewis Gibby, 49, of Marble, NC has been arrested for two counts of Felony First Degree Statutory Rape and two counts of Felony Incest with A Child Under 13 of Age By A Defendant Who Was Greater Than or Equal to Four Years Older than the Victim at the time of the offense.

Gibby turned himself into the Cherokee County Detention Center on August 26, 2025 and was initially given no-bond that was set later that day at $2,000,000.00 secured. Gibby is currently confined in the Cherokee County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in Cherokee County District Court on September 10, 2025.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
