Motorcycle Recovered, One Arrested on Felony Charge

On July 26, 2026, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported larceny of a motorcycle. The owner of the stolen motorcycle provided information as to a possible area to find it. The information of the location and the description were relayed to all deputies working to aid in locating the stolen property.

While enroute to the suspected area that the property could be located, a deputy observed a motorcycle matching the reported description and conducted an investigative traffic stop. During the investigation, deputies confirmed through the vehicle identification number (VIN) that the motorcycle was indeed the one that had been reported stolen. The owner responded to the scene and positively identified the motorcycle as his property. The investigation also revealed the motorcycle had been repainted and its ignition had been damaged.

Justin Maynor, of Cherokee County, was arrested and charged with Felony Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. He was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center, where a magistrate found probable cause for the charge, issued a warrant, and set a $2,500.00 secured bond.

Sheriff Chris Wood praised the Patrol Division for their response to this call and immediate follow-up.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
