A hilarious Hitchcock-inspired comedy, Wrong Window!, opens at the Peacock Performing Arts Center this weekend.

It’s a fast-paced, witty whodunit that keeps audiences guessing until the end. At the center of the story are Jeff and Marnie, a couple finding their way back together after a year apart. Jeff, played by Alex Giles of Hiawassee, suffers from a strange phobia that has kept him mostly reclusive. What begins as a cozy evening soon spirals into a disappearance, nosy neighbors, and a tangle of conspiracies.

“This is by far the funniest thing I’ve been a part of since Young Frankenstein,” Giles said. “I hope everyone has as much fun watching it as we’ve had putting it together.”

Opposite him, Ashley Elver of Young Harris stars as Marnie, a gothic mystery novelist with a flair for seeing crime around every corner. “Between sneaking around on my hands and knees and choreographed fight scenes, this role keeps me on my toes,” she said.

Ashley’s husband, Milo Elver, joins her onstage as the detective tasked with unraveling the case. Though he has plenty of experience behind the scenes, this marks his first acting role in more than 20 years. He said the quick-moving, “carefree, fun comedy with a crazy mystery” drew him in.

Several other cast members are also stepping into new territory. Kaylee Todd plays Marnie’s witty yet scatterbrained best friend Midge. This is Todd’s theatrical debut, though she’s quick to add, “My family will tell you I’ve been acting since I was five.”

Jordan Legue of Murphy takes on his first major part as Jeff’s goofy friend Robbie. David Heyer of Young Harris, a longtime Hitchcock fan, plays Loomis the handyman. The show also features Ben March of Hayesville as the imposing Thor and Teresa LeMaire of Murphy as Thor’s wife Lila.

Wrong Window! is full of laughs and suspense,” Ashley Elver said. “It’ll be fun to see who can figure out whodunit.”

Wrong Window! runs October 3–5 and 10–12 at the Peacock, 301 Church St., Hayesville. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m.
