BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — Organizers have canceled the first weekend of Sorghum in the Mountains, including the parade and all associated festivities, because of severe weather expected from Hurricane Isaias.

Events set for Oct. 10-11 will not take place. High winds, rain and thunderstorms tied to the hurricane are forecast to begin late Friday night and continue through Sunday evening.

The festival’s second weekend, Oct. 17-18, will proceed as planned. The Sorghum in the Mountains Parade has been moved to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, and will follow the route already announced. The Sorghum Stomp has also been moved to Oct. 17.

Organizers directed the public to the Sorghum in the Mountains website and social media accounts for any updated information.
