Towns County Falls Short in 27-21 Loss to Dixie Hornets

HIAWASSEE, Ga. — The Towns County Indians came close but fell 27-21 to the Dixie Hornets on Friday, Sept. 26. Despite the loss, the Indians held their own against a higher-ranked opponent, with Dixie at 175th in South Carolina and Towns County at 408th in Georgia per MaxPreps’ football rankings.
The defeat brought Towns County’s record to 3-3, while Dixie improved to 4-1, marking their fourth straight home win dating back to last season.
Towns County will host Anderson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 facing a Cavaliers defense that allows 40.6 points per game, setting up a potential high-scoring game. Dixie will travel to play Calhoun Falls Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday in their first region game of the season.
