Towns County Historical Society to Host Meeting on Local Historian's Legacy

HIAWASSEE, Ga. — The Towns County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, September 8, at 6:00 p.m. at 900 North Main Street, Hiawassee, in the former Towns County Recreation Building. The event is free, open to the public, and will include refreshments.

The meeting will feature a presentation by Jerry A. Taylor on the life and contributions of Benjamin H. Taylor (1876–1961), a poet, scholar, historian, humorist, and commentator whose work continues to influence the community. A brief business session will follow, with updates on ongoing projects, including restoration efforts at the Berrong-Oakley House and upcoming society events.
