Towns County Man Arrested on Serious Sex Crime Charges

Towns County, GA – A local man, Shane Alan Spence, 45, was arrested ten days ago by the Towns County Sheriff’s Office on charges of incest, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, and other related sex crimes. Authorities allege that Spence committed these offenses against a female family member over a period of four to five years, beginning when the victim was under 16 years old.

Spence, a resident of the Gumlog Road area, was denied bond following his arrest. Sheriff Ken Henderson described the case as deeply troubling, stating, "It's heartbreaking to think something like this could have been going on for so long."

This arrest marks the first incest case in Towns County during Sheriff Henderson’s tenure, though similar cases have been reported in the county since 2000. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact the Towns County Sheriff’s Office.
