Two Arrested in Towns County Drug Bust

HIAWASSEE, Ga. — Two individuals were arrested following a drug investigation by the Towns County Sheriff’s Office, authorities announced.
After a two-week investigation and surveillance, Drug Investigator Keanu Nguyen and K-9 Dargo conducted a traffic stop on Berrong Street in Hiawassee. A search of the vehicle, prompted by probable cause, resulted in the confiscation of methamphetamine that field-tested positive.
Anna Marie Adams, 42, of Hiawassee, was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession and use of drug-related objects, felony crossing guard lines, misdemeanor improper display of a license plate, and misdemeanor unsafe/improperly equipped vehicle.
Maurice Sanchez, 59, of Young Harris, faced charges of felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession and use of drug-related objects, and misdemeanor open container in a vehicle.
Sheriff Ken Henderson expressed gratitude to the community and individuals who report drug activity, emphasizing a collective effort to make a difference.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
