Union County Fire Captain Advances Toward Emergency Management Certification

Capt. Jeff Fortenberry of the Union County Fire Department has completed required training and taken the state examination for the Certified Emergency Manager designation.
Fortenberry completed specialized courses in disaster preparedness, emergency operations center functions, preliminary damage assessments, disaster recovery and hazardous materials contingency planning. The training prepares emergency management professionals to coordinate resources, assess community needs, manage operations and support recovery after disasters.
“Captain Fortenberry has demonstrated a strong commitment to professional development and preparing himself to serve our community at an even higher level,” Fire Chief David Dyer said. “Emergency management requires extensive planning, coordination and preparation long before a disaster occurs. The knowledge and training he has gained will benefit our department and strengthen our ability to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.”
The department congratulated Fortenberry on completing the coursework and examination, noting the milestone reflects its ongoing commitment to professional development, emergency preparedness and protecting Union County residents.
