Union County Fire Department Hosts Firewise Coalition Meeting

UNION COUNTY, Ga. — The Union County Fire Department hosted a Firewise Coalition meeting on August 27, 2025, at Station 1, bringing together community representatives and residents to discuss wildfire prevention and preparedness.

Facilitated by Mr. Joe Boone and the Georgia Forestry Commission, the meeting focused on updates to the Union County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) and explored potential grant opportunities to support local Firewise initiatives. Attendees included representatives from established Firewise communities and residents interested in learning more about the program.

The Union County Firewise Coalition remains dedicated to promoting Firewise communities, providing educational resources, and encouraging proactive measures to reduce wildfire risks in the area. The Fire Department expressed pride in hosting and supporting these efforts, emphasizing their commitment to community safety.
