Union County Firefighters Complete Leadership Training at Georgia Fire Academy


The Union County Fire Department announced that Sergeant Hudson Anderson and Firefighter Kyle Mead have successfully completed the 32-hour Acting Officer in Charge course at the Georgia Fire Academy.


The specialized program is designed to prepare firefighters to assume supervisory roles during emergency incidents and daily operations. Participants receive training in leadership, decision-making, incident command, personnel accountability, and effective communication, ensuring they are ready to step into command positions when needed.


“Developing future leaders is critical to the success of our department,” said Fire Chief David Dyer. “Firefighters Anderson and Mead have shown a strong commitment to professional growth by completing this training, and it strengthens our ability to provide safe and effective service to the community.”


By completing the course, Anderson and Mead enhance the department’s leadership depth and help ensure continuity of command during emergencies. The Union County Fire Department congratulated both firefighters on their achievement and praised their dedication to continued training and service.
