Union County Firefighters Complete Structural Fire Control Course

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — Union County Fire Department firefighters Jason Reese and Adam Podber have completed a 16-hour Structural Fire Control course.
The course is designed to provide firefighters with the basic knowledge, skills and confidence needed to control and extinguish structural fires. Students participated in firefighting drills at all stages of fire progress and learned to recognize various fire conditions and the dangers associated with interior structural firefighting.
Practical exercises included a live fire demonstration of fire behavior, single-room drills and multiple-room drills.
“Structural fire control training is essential to ensuring our firefighters have the knowledge and skills needed to operate safely and effectively on the fireground,” Union County Fire Chief David Dyer said. “I’m proud of Jason Reese and Adam Podber for their commitment to training and professional development. Their dedication helps strengthen our department and ensures we continue working toward providing the highest level of service to the citizens of Union County.”
