UNION COUNTY, Ga. — A man was arrested on August 28 in a joint operation by the Union County Sheriff's Office and the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force. Dillon Wayne Mullavey, wanted for violating probation by being back in Union County after being banished from the judicial circuit, was taken into custody at his residence.
Detectives arrived at the scene and immediately made contact with Mullavey, who was found smoking a marijuana blunt. A search revealed a 12-gauge shotgun, and it was known to law enforcement that Mullavey was a convicted felon. In the living room, additional marijuana was located.
A subsequent search warrant led to the discovery of suspected crack cocaine, Xanax pills, marijuana, rolled marijuana blunts, and 20 different firearms. Further investigation revealed Mullavey as a member of the Folk Nation gang, a faction under the Gangsters Disciples. The drugs and weapons found were seized as evidence.
Mullavey faces charges including possession of a controlled substance, possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm or knife during certain crimes, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism Prevention Act. Sheriff Dyer emphasized the office's commitment to investigating, apprehending, and prosecuting offenders who threaten community safety, vowing to hold such individuals accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
The arrest yielded a significant haul of illegal weapons and drugs, reinforcing ongoing efforts to maintain public safety through proactive enforcement and partnerships with surrounding agencies.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
