YHC Professor Wins Academic Excellence Award

Dr. Amy L. Boggan, a Professor of Psychology at Young Harris College since 2012, received the 2025 Vulcan Teaching Excellence Award on August 14 at the college’s Convocation.

The award, established in 1991 by the Georgia Independent College Association, honors faculty who excel in teaching, foster academic excellence, and enhance campus community life. Dr. Boggan was recognized for her classroom dedication, leadership in coordinating the annual Undergraduate Research Day, and mentorship of students across disciplines.

Her research focuses on human expertise, particularly perceptual changes in visual and auditory domains, with publications in notable journals like the Journal of Neuroscience. A Mississippi native, she is also a musician, avid birder, and nature photographer, with a photo published in Birds & Blooms magazine in 2019.
