HIAWASSEE, Ga. — The city of Hiawassee marked a triumphant showing at the 75th Annual Georgia Mountain Fair Parade, with Mayor Jay Chastain crediting the community's teamwork for the success of the city’s float.

In a statement, Chastain expressed gratitude to staff, friends, and community members who collaborated on the float, highlighting their dedication and spirit. “From the planning and building to proudly pulling it through the parade, your hard work truly showcased the spirit of Hiawassee,” he said.

Key contributors included Ryan and Christeen Osborn and their son Walter, who provided a calf and a goat and helped pull the float. Clint and Chrissy Royce, accompanied by the town’s mascot Kilo, also played a significant role. Other participants included Carl Grizzle, Seth Grizzle, Jarret Miliam, Sheryl Branson with her granddaughters Macie and Kaydee, Lisa Pickens, Councilwoman Nancy Noblet and Lily Ponitz. The Scattaway String Band, led by Dawson Hunter, provided live music that energized the crowd.

Chastain also gave special recognition to his wife, Annette Chastain, for her support during the parade and her ongoing commitment to the community.

The mayor praised the collective effort, noting that the teamwork and community pride made the parade a memorable celebration.
