HIAWASSEE, Ga. — The Hiawassee Music on the Square Committee will wrap up its 2025 season with a special concert featuring the Woody Gap School’s "Band of Steel" on Saturday, September 6, at Hiawassee Town Square Park.
The free concert, scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Main Street, will showcase the Union County-based steel drum band. Organizers invite attendees to experience the unique sound, noting it’s a must-see for both fans and first-timers. Donations are appreciated to support the event.
The committee expressed gratitude for community support despite weather-related challenges this summer. “It’s been a great season, but it’s not over!” the committee said in a statement.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for comfort and arrive early at 6:00 p.m. to enjoy food from the VFW Auxiliary Food Truck, offering grilled hot dogs and more. Well-behaved pets are welcome, provided owners clean up after them.
The event marks the 26th year of Music on the Square, made possible by sponsors including the City of Hiawassee, Banister-Cooper Funeral Home, Barrett Insurance, Service Master Restoration, Hiawassee Package Store, and Hiawassee Downtown Development Authority.
In case of rain at concert time, the event will be canceled. For more information, contact the Hiawassee Music on the Square Committee.
