Hiwassee Dam Middle School Volleyball Shines in Tri-Match Against Hayesville

HAYESVILLE, N.C. — The Hiwassee Dam Lady Eagles middle school volleyball team soared to victory on Thursday, Aug. 21, dominating the Hayesville Lady Yellow Jackets in a tri-match that showcased their skill and teamwork. While the junior varsity and varsity teams faced tough losses, the middle school squad’s performance was a highlight, earning praise for their commanding play.


The middle school Lady Eagles took control early, securing a decisive 25-4 win in the first set and following with a 25-12 victory in the second, clinching the match 2-0. Their aggressive serves, sharp defense, and cohesive strategy overwhelmed Hayesville, setting a strong tone for the program’s future.


“The middle school team showed incredible focus and energy,” said Hiwassee Dam’s athletic director. “Their performance today is a testament to their hard work and potential.”


In the junior varsity match, Hayesville prevailed with a 25-15 win in the first set and a 25-9 rout in the second, taking the match 2-0. The varsity contest saw Hayesville continue their dominance, winning 25-11, 25-20, and 25-5 to sweep the match 3-0.


Despite the losses at the JV and varsity levels, Hiwassee Dam’s middle school team provided a bright spot, demonstrating the strength of the program’s youth development. The Lady Eagles’ young athletes displayed maturity beyond their years, with standout serving and defensive plays that kept Hayesville on their heels.


The tri-match, held at Hayesville High School, drew a lively crowd of supporters for both teams. Hiwassee Dam’s middle school squad left the court with heads held high, their performance signaling a promising future for Lady Eagles volleyball.


The Lady Eagles will take on Copper Basin on Monday, Aug. 25th.
