Hiwassee Dam Volleyball Rallies to Defeat Fannin County in Five-Set Thriller

MURPHY, N.C. — The Hiwassee Dam varsity volleyball team outlasted Fannin County in a gripping five-set match, securing a 3-2 victory at home in a non-conference showdown on Monday, Sept. 29.


The match saw intense back-and-forth action. Fannin County (Blue Ridge, Ga.) took the first set 25-20, but Hiwassee Dam (Murphy, N.C.) responded with a 26-24 win in the second set. The Eagles surged ahead with a 25-19 victory in the third set, but Fannin County fought back, dominating the fourth set 25-8. In the decisive fifth set, Hiwassee Dam clinched the match with a 15-12 triumph.


The best-of-five match showcased both teams' resilience, with Hiwassee Dam ultimately prevailing to claim the 3-2 win. The victory adds momentum for the Eagles as they continue their season on the road against Summit Charter on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
