Lady Indian Runners Compete in Regional Cross Country Meet

HIAWASSEE, Ga. — The Towns County High School girls’ cross-country team competed in a regional meet on Saturday, with several runners posting solid performances in a field of 181 athletes.
Joyce Hou led Towns County, finishing 157th with a time of 29:37.30, earning 128 points. Mary Durham followed in 159th place with a time of 29:54.90, contributing 130 points. Maelei Johnstone ran 32:49.80 to place 170th with 139 points, while Reilyn Gonzalez finished 172nd with a time of 33:56.10, adding 141 points. Katelyn Walls completed the team’s scored runners, placing 180th with a time of 37:56.00 for 149 points.
North Hall’s Summer Muxlow won the race with a time of 19:18.20, followed by teammates Ealyn Kennedy at 19:47.20 and Camille Nix at 20:02.30. Strong performances also came from Dawson County, Buford, and Brookwood, with multiple runners placing in the top 50.
The 5K course challenged athletes with its competitive pace and diverse field from schools across the region. Towns County’s runners showed determination and are set to build on their performances at the Southern Traditions Jamboree in Tallulah Falls on Sept. 11.
