Murphy City Hall, Electric Power Board to Share New Lobby for Improved Customer Service

MURPHY, N.C. — Murphy City Hall and the Murphy Electric Power Board are undergoing significant renovations to streamline customer service, Mayor Tim Radford announced in a recent press release.

The two offices, previously accessible through separate entrances at opposite ends of the building, will soon share a single entrance and lobby. This change eliminates the need for customers to navigate a long hallway to pay bills or establish service. The Water Department payment window is being relocated closer to the Power Board window, simplifying transactions for residents managing both water and electric accounts.

Upon entering the new shared lobby, customers will find the Murphy Electric Power Board to the left and the Water Department and City Administration offices to the right.

To further enhance accessibility, the town is expanding customer parking. Additional spaces are now available in front of and alongside the Cherokee County Historical Museum, formerly the police department.

“These changes are designed to enhance the overall customer experience and ensure visits to City Hall and Murphy Electric Power Board are more efficient for everyone,” Radford said in the release.

Town officials expect the renovations to improve convenience and efficiency for residents. The project is underway, with completion details to be announced.
