Towns County Deputies Complete TASER 10 and Field Sobriety Training

TOWNS COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies and detention officers with the Towns County Sheriff’s Office recently completed certification training on the Axon TASER 10 system and hosted a Standardized Field Sobriety Testing course.

The TASER 10 training included hands-on instruction, scenario-based exercises and de-escalation techniques. Officials said the training prepares personnel to use the device safely, effectively and responsibly when needed.

Sheriff Anthony Coleman said the philosophy aligns with the office’s commitment to protecting both the community and its personnel while emphasizing the preservation of life whenever possible.

Sgt. Jeff McConnell and Chief Deputy Billy Brackett led the instruction. Coleman expressed appreciation for their leadership and dedication.

Earlier this week, the Sheriff’s Office hosted the Standardized Field Sobriety Testing course. Joshua Blake served as instructor.

Officials said the training equips deputies with skills to detect impaired drivers and enforce Georgia DUI laws. They described the deputies’ professionalism and participation as reflecting their commitment to the community.

Coleman said providing ongoing training is an investment in public safety and remains a priority for the office.

The Towns County Sheriff’s Office said it will continue offering training opportunities to enhance deputies’ knowledge and abilities in serving the community.
