Towns County Sheriff's Office and Hiawassee Police Department Joint S.C.O.U.T. Task Force Operation Results in Arrests

In a coordinated effort to combat drug-related crime and to protect the community, the Towns County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with the Hiawassee Police Department and the joint S.C.O.U.T. Task Force, successfully conducted an operation today, July 31, 2026.

This operation led to the arrest of two individuals facing serious charges, including:

Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute

Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute

Felony Theft by Taking (over $1500)

Manufacturing Marijuana

Elder Exploitation

Possession of Drug-Related Objects

Additional charges are currently pending as investigations continue.

Sheriff Anthony Coleman commends the outstanding work of the Towns County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division, Uniform Patrol Division, and the Hiawassee Police Department for their unwavering commitment to enforcing the law and ensuring the safety of Towns County residents.

Sheriff Coleman stated, “This successful operation reflects the dedication and teamwork of our law enforcement agencies as we continue to combat drug trafficking and protect our vulnerable populations.”
