Staff Report

A community is rallying to support a Union County family after a deadly mobile home fire claimed the lives of two young children earlier this week.

Union County Fire and Rescue confirmed that two children, believed to be ages three and six, died in a structure fire overnight on Sunday, Dec. 14 at Warren Trailer Park. Firefighters from all county stations responded and found a single-wide mobile home fully involved. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Union County Fire, the Union County Sheriff’s Office, and the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, efforts are now focused on helping the surviving family members. According to community members assisting the family, the parents and one remaining child were also injured in the fire. It was reported that Shyla, the mother, and her child have since been released from the hospital, while Dominick, the father, remains in hospital care.

A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help the family with medical expenses, living costs, and other immediate needs as they work to rebuild their lives. Organizers emphasized that the fundraiser was created simply to help spread the word and support the family during this difficult time.

For those who prefer not to donate through GoFundMe, an alternative option has been set up. Donations can also be made at United Community Bank under the account name “Help Spaulding & Routheaux.”

Community members say the family has lost nearly everything in the fire and will need ongoing support in the weeks and months ahead.
