HIAWASSEE, Ga. — The Hiawassee Downtown Development Authority (DDA) hosted a successful 50/50 raffle at its Annual Fun-Draiser, creating a lively pirate-themed atmosphere, according to a recent social media post by the organization.

Pirates roamed the crowd, selling raffle tickets and boosting the event's energy. The lucky winner claimed a prize of $706 in cash, adding excitement to the treasure hunt-themed fundraiser. The raffle drew enthusiastic participation, with proceeds supporting the DDA’s mission to foster economic development in Hiawassee.

Funds raised will contribute to the creation of the Paris Business Center, a project aimed at providing a hub for local entrepreneurs and businesses. The DDA, established by the Hiawassee City Council in 2019, works to build a dynamic, family-focused, and economically vibrant downtown while preserving the area’s history, according to the DDA’s website.

The organization expressed gratitude to all participants, noting that their support helps advance Hiawassee’s economic future. For more information about the DDA and its initiatives, visit www.downtownhiawassee.com.
