Towns County Sheriff's Office Launches Summer Cadet Program for Local Youth


Young Harris, GA — The Towns County Sheriff’s Office is inviting upcoming 9th through 12th grade students to participate in its 2025 Summer Cadet Program, offering hands-on experience in law enforcement, first responder skills, and community service.


The program, running on Mondays from June 8 through June 29, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, will be held at the Towns County Sheriff’s Office located at 4070 GA Highway 339, Young Harris, GA 30582.


Under the theme “Learn. Lead. Serve.,” participants will gain practical exposure to various aspects of public safety and skilled trades. Activities include exploring patrol operations, investigations, EMS, fire service, K9 units, and modern equipment. Students will also build leadership skills through teamwork, communication, and problem-solving exercises, while staying active with physical training, scenario-based drills, and outdoor activities.


Additional highlights include hearing directly from professionals in fields such as EMS, fire service, construction, and skilled trades, along with opportunities for meaningful community service projects that support local initiatives.


The program is open to young men and women ready to challenge themselves, build confidence, and contribute to their community. Organizers emphasize the value of preparing participants for potential futures in service-oriented careers.
